The Village of Channahon is strategically located within Will and Grundy counties in northeastern Illinois.
The many advantages of a Channahon location include:
- Just 45 miles southwest of Chicago’s Loop
- Within an hour’s drive of both O’Hare and Midway Airports
- Served by Interstates 80 and 55, with interchanges at Interstate 80 and Interstate 55, Interstate 55 and Route 6, and Interstate 55 and Bluff Road
- Adjacent to the Illinois Waterway System
- Freight rail connections to local and regional carriers
You can use the street atlas to find a particular street or location with the Village. For example, if you are trying to find Tryon Street, you can search the alphabetical street index to find Tryon. It will list a reference grid number that corresponds to the map.
A wide variety of commercial, residential, and industrial uses are available throughout the Village. The zoning map provides a color-coded guide to zoning designations. Specific guidelines for each zoning classification can be found by reviewing the Village’s Municipal Code page.
Several maps on the topic of Comprehensive Land Use may be found within the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (PDF) which was passed on December 1, 2008.
The Village of Channahon is located within five townships in Will and Grundy Counties. Boundaries for other taxing bodies such as elementary and high school districts, the Channahon Park District, library districts, and fire districts vary throughout the Village. The taxing bodies affecting a particular parcel of property will depend on where that parcel is located.
To determine the tax rate for an individual parcel, you need to know the tax code in which the parcel is located. The tax code provides the total tax rate for all taxing bodies covering that area. If you live in Will County, you can check the Will County map to determine the tax code and total tax rate for your property. If you live in Grundy County, please refer to the Grundy County map.
Please note: These maps are provided for informational purposes only. To verify the tax code of a parcel, call the Will County Treasurer’s Office at 815-740-4675 or call the Supervisor of Assessment’s Office in Grundy County at 815-941-3269. You will need to have the Parcel Identification Number (PIN) for the property when you call.
Nearly 30 subdivisions offer a variety of housing styles throughout the Village.
The Channahon Town Center, located at Route 6 and Bluff Road, is designed to provide for an active, well-rounded, attractive and flexible village core. It is intended to be the vibrant heart of the community. Its master plan includes shops and parks, offices and entertainment, a government center, and a church and school.
In addition, the plan includes a variety of housing types. The new Channahon Municipal Center is located within the Town Center. The newly constructed Navajo Drive extends south from Cherokee Ridge subdivision through the Town Center to Route 6/Bluff Road.
