2020 Refuse Transition
Contract with Environmental Recycling & Disposal Approved
A change in waste collection providers is coming for all Village of Channahon residents. Environmental Recycling & Disposal will be the new service provider for weekly refuse, recycling and yard waste collection beginning May 1, 2020.
Transition Timeline
Environmental will begin delivery refuse, recycling and yard waste carts starting April 20. The new carts will be green with lids colored to indicate their designated purpose: dark green for refuse, tan for recycling and light green for yard waste. All of the new carts are expected to be delivered by April 27.
Environmental will continue accepting requests from those who wish to exchange the initial carts for different sizes until July 1, 2020. After that date, fees may apply for cart size exchange requests.
The last day of service with Waste Management is April 27, 2020. After this date, Waste Management will retrieve carts from your home. Residential customers are asked to LEAVE THEIR CARTS OUT near the curb after service on April 27, 2020. Waste Management will remove their carts from Monday, 4/27/2020, through Wednesday, 4/29/2020.
If you are a snowbird, will be out of town or have other circumstances that will prevent you from leaving your Waste Management carts out for retrieval on April 27, 2020, please contact Waste Management directly to set up an alternate retrieval date. Their customer service number is (866) 570-4702.

Pickup Day Changes
While a portion of refuse collection remains on Monday, Environmental has also added refuse pickup on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please visit Environmental’s website to check your address for your service day: www.envrd.com/channahon.
Residential Prices
The monthly rates below are effective May 1, 2020 through April 30, 2026. Rates will increase May 1st of each year.
