The Village of Channahon, in conjunction with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and its consultant, Oates Associates, is currently developing an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan to identify barriers to accessibility within the public right-of-way and create a strategy to enhance accessibility across the community. For the plan to be a success, we need community input! No one knows Channahon and its sidewalk system better than those who use it every day. We would love to hear from you!
Want to be part of the process? A Steering Committee is being formed right now that will meet 3 times over the course of the rest of the year, and each (virtual) meeting will be one hour in length. It will be chance to discuss the sidewalk infrastructure with your peers and offer suggestions to the project team on what needs to be implemented. Your input matters!
If you are interested in participating in the Steering Committee, contact Karen Geldert of Oates Associates at karen.geldert@oatesassociates.com (link) by April 7, 2026 The first meeting is anticipated to be in mid-April.
