Meeting Highlights for Monday, October 6, 2025
CHANNAHON, Ill. - The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, October 6, 2025. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting.
VOTES
The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:
- Approved: Appointment to the Arts & Culture Commission Board
- The Board approved the appointment of Ayla Sampson to fill a vacancy on the Arts & Culture Commission.
- Approved: Hiring of a Public Works Laborer
- The Village Board approved the hiring of a Public Works laborer, filling a recent vacancy in the department.
- Approved: Approval of Professional Surveying and Engineering Services Proposal for Preliminary Engineering and Master Plan Refinement - Channahon Town Center
- The Village Board previously approved the amended plan for the Channahon Town Center, advancing the long-standing goal of creating a vibrant downtown. The approved proposal from Spaceco Civil Engineering & Surveying, with Ginkgo Planning & Design as sub-consultant, includes: survey work, preliminary engineering, stormwater design, access coordination, and cost estimating for the 22-acre site. Services were approved at a not-to-exceed cost of $125,000, well within the FY 25/26 budgeted amount.
- Approved: Request for Renewal/Change of Guaranteed Technical Services and Consulting, Inc. for I.T. Consulting & Managed Services Contract
- The Village approved a three-year managed services contract with Guaranteed Technical Services and Consulting, Inc. at $6,700 per month, which includes an on-site consultant two days per week to support increasing I.T. demands. The contract is within budget and has been reviewed by the Village Attorney.
- Approved: An Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of Certain Personal Property Owned by the Village of Channahon, Will and Grundy County, Illinois
- The Village Board of Trustees approved an ordinance authorizing the sale of three retired vehicles and nine retired mobile computers.
- Approved: 2025 MFT Road Resurfacing Project Change Order 1
- The Board approved Change Order 1 with PT Ferro Construction, increasing the resurfacing contract by $115,849.66 for unforeseen patching, bringing the final contract value to $1,975,768.45. The adjustment remains within the project budget.
- Approved: Money Farm LLC (TVA Logistics) Acceptance of Public Improvements and Release of ICG
- The Village approved releasing the developer's completion bond after confirming storm sewer and parkway landscaping improvements are fully complete and in good condition. As required, a two-year maintenance guarantee equal to 20% of the original bond will be held to ensure ongoing quality.
- Approved: Approval of Joint Purchase Master Contract (JPMC) for Bulk Salt Purchases
- The Village is obligated to purchase 1,782 tons of bulk salt at $68.99 per ton under the Joint Purchase Master Contract, with a minimum of 1,426 tons and up to 2,139 tons allowed at the contract price. This purchase is below the $153,000 budgeted for salt in the current fiscal year.
