Proposed Modifications to Golf Cart Ordinance

At the Village Board meeting held on September 21, 2020, the Board of Trustees discussed proposed modifications to the Village’s current golf cart ordinance. Please review both the current and proposed ordinances below.

The proposed changes to the existing ordinance are as follows:

  • Adding a UTV as defined in the proposed ordinance

  • Mandatory permit sticker/placard ($75.00 for persons 64 years of age or younger; $50.00 for persons 65 years of age and older) issued by the Village that must be visible on the rear of the golf cart/UTV at all times

  • Driver’s minimum age going from 16 to 18 years old

  • Fastened seat belts for drivers and passengers

  • Compliance with the Illinois Child Passenger Protection Act

  • Prohibited use at the following locations:

    • Operating on Thomas Dillon Drive, Bradley Street, Amoco Road or Exchange Boulevard

    • Hansel Road between Rachel Drive and McClindon Road

    • Ridge Road between U.S. Route 6 (Eames Street) and Hansel Road

    • Bell Road, north of U.S. Route 6 (Eames Street)

    • Knapp Street

    • Tryon Street, north of U.S. Route 6


Based on input provided by the public and at the Village Board meeting, modifications to the proposed ordinance are being researched. Any proposed changes will be discussed at a future board meeting.
