For the past 10 years, the Will Electric Aggregation Group (WEAG), coordinated through the Will County Governmental League (WCGL), has provided Village of Channahon residents with a stable fixed energy price offering, one that supported renewable energy growth via Renewable Energy Credits and, most recently, a 100% carbon free product. While there were periods over this timeframe where ComEd was unexpectedly lower than our program price, overall this program has saved residents a substantial amount of money.
As this current program contract comes to an end, the group will no longer be coordinated through the WCGL. Residents have begun to receive letters from Commonwealth Edison announcing the completion of the current program and the return of those affected to ComEd as the default energy supplier. This return to ComEd requires no action on the part of the resident.
Residents with solar power that have applied to ComEd's net-metering program will need to resubmit their net-metering paperwork to ComEd. Those residents were alerted that they would need to do this when they signed up for net-metering and will be notified again by ComEd, along with their letter about returning to the default rate. Below are links to the ComEd page on net-metering, the online application and the downloadable application.
