Village of Channahon Board of Trustees Meeting Recap

Meeting Highlights for Monday, April 21, 2025

CHANNAHON, Ill. - The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, April 21, 2025. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting.

VOTES

The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:

• Approved: An Ordinance Adopting an Amended Preliminary Plant/Final Plan for Town Center
  • The Village of Channahon proposed an amendment to the preliminary plat and final plan for the Town Center development, originally planned in 2005. The revised 2025 Master Plan focuses on making the area more market-viable through phased, mixed-use development, including a central Village Green, improved connectivity, and integrated stormwater management. Following the Planning & Zoning Commission's unanimous approval, the Village Board of Trustees also approved the amendment, contingent upon modifications to future street widths and removal of the depiction of the possible Channon Drive-St. James Road connection.
• Approved: An Ordinance Adopting the Village of Channahon Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 (May 1, 2025 - April 30, 2026)
  • The Board of Trustees approved the proposed budget for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2026, reflecting continued growth, strong revenues, and stable financial management without increasing property tax rates or adding new resident fees. The Village's diversified tax base and strategic development have more than doubled its EAV over the past decade, enabling expansions in staffing, infrastructure, and services while maintaining safety and quality of life. A required public hearing on the proposed budget was held on April 7, 2025.

The Board was briefed on the following items during the Committee of the Whole:

• Statistical monthly reports for March 2025 were presented to the Committee of the Whole by the following departments: Village Administrator, Administration, Community Development, Finance, Police, and Public Works.
