Meeting Highlights for Monday, August 4, 2025
CHANNAHON, Ill. - The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, August 4, 2025. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting.
VOTES
The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:
- Approved: A Resolution Authorizing the Creation of the Arts and Culture Commission Fund, or Fund 06
- In March of 2024, the Village Board authorized the establishment of the Arts and Culture Commission to promote cultural and artistic programs in the community. The creation of a special revenue fund was approved to track the commission's finances, with budgeted funds authorized for transfer by the Finance Director.
- Approved: Design Services for Primary and Secondary Receiving Sites for GPWC
- The Village is moving forward with the design and permitting of water system facilities at the Grand Prairie Water Commission Receiving Sites, including pumps, generators, and a storage reservoir at the Primary Site. Strand's task order, approved by the Board of Trustees, also covers a topographic survey, loan application preparation, and accelerated work that may shift more costs into FY 2026.
- Approved: Award Quality Assurance Materials Testing Service to Rubino Engineering
- The Board approved a proposal from Rubino Engineering for Quality Assurance Material Testing Services for the 2025 Resurfacing Project, including HMA density and PCC testing in accordance with IDOT regulations. Rubino has previously provided these services successfully on past Village projects.
- Approved: Resolutions for Improvement Under the Illinois Highway Code
- The Board of Trustees approved two housekeeping resolutions to appropriate motor fuel tax money in two prior years in order to reconcile the appropriation with the actual money spent in those years.
