Meeting Highlights for Monday, December 15, 2025
CHANNAHON, Ill. - The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, December 15, 2025. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting.
MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
- Public Works Employees Recognized by Amazon
- Channahon Public Works employees Peter Cappellini and Randy Eiler were recognized by Amazon and the Village Board of Trustees for their roles in detecting, reporting, and ultimately preventing a theft at the Amazon fulfillment facility in Channahon in October.
- EMA Volunteers Recognized for 5 Years of Service
- Four Channahon Emergency Management Agency (EMA) volunteers were recognized for serving five years in their roles with the EMA. Marla and Dan Gilbert, Jason Hall, and Mark Kinzey were all congratulated by the Village President and Board for their commitment to serving our community.
VOTES
The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:
- Approved: An Ordinance Authorizing the Execution of a Residential Refuse Service Agreement Between the Village of Channahon and LRS Holdings, LLC
- The Village Board approved a new six-year solid waste collection agreement with LRS Holdings, continuing services from May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2032. The extension follows LRS's 2023 acquisition of Environmental Recycling and successful fulfillment of the existing contract. While rates have been updated and several improvements added, all current service levels will be fully maintained.
- Approved: Route 6 Watermain Improvements Change Order 8
- The Board approved Change Order 8, finalizing project quantities and resulting in a revised contract value of $3,216,692.64, $272,465.41 below the original award. The adjustments reflect field-driven changes to watermain installation methods and credits for unused or reduced pay items.
- Approved: 2025 Local Resurfacing Project Change Order No. 1
- The Village Board approved Change Order 1 with PT Ferro Construction, finalizing in-field quantities and reducing the contract by $10,681.46. The revised contract total is $723,185.21.
- Approved: A Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of Certain Temporary and Permanent Easements Along North Eames Street between Thomas Dillon Drive and Patricia Lane (Land Trust 8715)
- The Board approved the purchase of permanent and temporary easements along the north side of Eames Street to support public utility installation and maintenance at a cost of $50,000.
BRIEFINGS
The Board was briefed on the following items during the Committee of the Whole:
- Statistical monthly reports for November 2025 were presented to the Committee of the Whole by the following departments: Village Administrator, Administration, Community Development, Finance, Police, and Public Works.
