Meeting Highlights for Monday, June 16, 2025
CHANNAHON, Ill. - The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, June 16, 2025. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect the official minutes of the meeting.
MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
- Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning Announcement
- The Village of Channahon has been selected for technical assistance to complete an ADA public right-of-way self-evaluation and transition plan by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP).
- Update on Public Works Facility
- Kluber Architects + Engineers updated the Board of Trustees on its progress on the development of a new Public Works facility on Village-owned land at the northwest corner of Route 6 and Bell Road. The project began with site tours and a collaborative space needs assessment involving Public Works staff, identifying both current deficiencies and future growth requirements. The design process is now moving into the Schematic Design Phase, where floor plans, exterior elevations, site concepts, and preliminary cost estimates will be developed.
VOTES
The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:
- Approved: Annual Renewal of Google Services
- The Board of Trustees approved the annual renewal of its Google Workspace Business Plus services through Dito, LLC at a cost of $25,872 for 98 user licenses. The software suite supports essential business functions and ensures FOIA compliance through its archival and retrieval capabilities.
- Approved: An Ordinance Granting a Special Use Permit for Certain Property in the Village of Channahon - Southwest Development III, LLC
- Southwest Development has been recommended for approval by the Planning & Zoning Commission for a Special Use Permit to add a drive-through for a proposed Great American Bagel restaurant at Mallory Plaza. The Planning & Zoning Commission voted 6-0 in favor of the permit, with conditions including enhanced landscape screening and clear signage, both subject to staff approval. The Board of Trustees approved the Special Use Permit.
- Approved: K9 Approval for Purchase
- The Village of Channahon has approved the Channahon Police Department's selection of the Kane County Sheriff's Office as the training provider for its next K9. The $16,000 cost, which includes the K9, training, and equipment, will be fully reimbursed through the Will County State's Attorney's "League of Extraordinary Canines & Friends" program.
- Approved: Approval of the Metropolitan Industries Inc. Proposal for the Rehabilitation of Both Booster Pumps at the Bridge Street Booster Station
- The Board of Trustees approved preventative maintenance for two booster pumps essential to transferring water between pressure zones in the system. Last rehabilitated in 2013, the repairs are a budgeted expense.
- Approved: Releasing Improvement Completion Bond for Brieser Construction Monitoring Well Installation
- The Village of Channahon has confirmed the successful completion and operation of the groundwater monitoring well installed by Brieser Construction Company as part of flood mitigation efforts in the Channahon Industrial area. With the monitoring period complete, the associated Improvement Completion Bond is no longer required and can be released.

- Statistical monthly reports for May 2025 were presented to the Committee of the Whole by the following departments: Village President, Village Administrator, Administration, Community Development, Finance, Police, and Public Works.
