Meeting Highlights for Monday, May 18, 2026


CHANNAHON, Ill. – The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, May 18, 2026. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting.

MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

  • National Public Works Week Proclamation

    • Village President Missey Moorman Schumacher proclaimed May 17 through May 23, 2026 as National Public Works Week in Channahon. The proclamation recognized the contributions of public works professionals and highlighted the 2026 theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community.”

  • Regional Collaboration and Legislative Efforts

    • Village officials provided updates on regional collaboration initiatives and discussions surrounding future legislation tied to economic development and property tax assessment reform efforts.

  • Community Events and Engagement

    • Officials highlighted several recent and upcoming community events including the Pink Heals Walk, Memorial Day Ceremony, and local business openings.

    • The Police Department also shared updates regarding public education efforts related to motorized scooters and the department’s recent DEA Drug Take Back Initiative participation.

VOTES

The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:

  • Approved: Development Agreement and Land Exchange Agreement with PSC Group / Grundy Redevelopment Company

    • The Board approved agreements related to the exchange of approximately 11.1 acres of Village-owned property to support the construction of a rail-served industrial facility and future wastewater treatment operations.

    • The agreement includes roadway improvements, utility easements, and a $250,000 contribution toward sanitary sewer infrastructure improvements.

  • Approved: Temporary Use Permit for Families of Faith Annual Carnival

    • The Board approved a temporary use permit allowing Families of Faith Church to host its annual summer carnival from June 11 through June 14, 2026.

  • Approved: Final Site Plan for Dunkin-Anchored Retail Center

    • Mega Million LLC received approval for a final site plan for a multi-tenant retail center anchored by a Dunkin drive-thru restaurant near South Frontage Road and Route 6.

  • Approved: Rezoning and Special Use Permit for Tasty Bite Restaurant

    • The Board approved rezoning and a special use permit for a proposed Tasty Bite drive-thru restaurant located at 24710 West Eames Street.

  • Approved: Rezoning and Special Use Permit for Carroll Speed Development

    • Approval was granted for rezoning and special use permits for a proposed 12,000-square-foot retail building and ancillary detailing operation at 24770 West Eames Street.

  • Approved: Plat of Dedication for Dellos Road Solar Development

    • The Board approved a right-of-way dedication associated with the Dellos Road Solar project to accommodate future roadway and infrastructure improvements.

  • Approved: Final Site Plan for Mallard Point Senior Living

    • Mallard Point Acquisition LLC received approval for a 40-unit senior housing development for residents age 55 and older within the Henneberry Farm subdivision.

  • Approved: Final Plat of Subdivision for Southern Crossing Unit Four

    • Lennar Development received approval for final plat for an 83-unit single-family residential subdivision near Ridge Road and Route 6.

  • Approved: Ordinance Prohibiting the Sale and Distribution of Certain Substances

    • The Board approved an ordinance banning the sale and distribution of kratom, nitrous oxide products, and other specified substances within Village limits.

  • Approved: Flock Safety Subscription Renewal

    • The Board approved the second-year renewal payment for the Village’s Flock Safety camera system agreement in the amount of $33,000.

  • Approved: Public Works Engineering and QA Services

    • The Board approved a master services agreement and related materials testing services contracts for ongoing infrastructure projects with Rubino Engineering.
